The historical name of the velvet refers to the Basilica of St. Paul in Rome: in a photograph preserved in the Tessitura, which portrays the opening ceremony of the Holy Door during the Jubilee of 1925, the high prelates and the officiants wear sacred vestments made with this soprarizzo velvet. The archive of the Tessitura also preserves a sample with a partially modified decorative layout and with the addition of the coat of arms of Pope Pius XII.
