Name

Table for piercing Jacquard punch cards

Materiale

Wood, metal

The tool consists of a perforated wooden support fixed to a table on which the “virgin” cardboards and the metal punches are placed, corresponding to the holes to be made; the latter are then beaten with a hammer to produce the perforated cardboards. The tool exists in two variants because the cardboards can be of two sizes (for background or for pile). It is used for the new binding of the background punch cards, which must be beaten on a weekly basis, and for small maintenance of the drawing cardboards in use.
