In the company’s historical correspondence, this fabric appears as one of the most requested and appreciated: the Art Gallery – Palazzo Strozzi in Florence defined it in 1926 as “the famous velvet”. [Source: Historical Archive section 1905-1945, correspondence, letter 926]. Papa Giulio (Pope Julius) velvet was also sold abroad, as evidenced, among others, by an order from Scalamandré in 1961 destined for the US market.
