Name

Vertical warping machine

Material

Wood

The instrument consists of a vertically arranged cylindrical wooden structure, which rotates when driven by a crank, and allows the preparation of warps starting from the bobbins of yarn: a special structure houses the battery of bobbins that feed the warping machine; the threads are grouped in different quantities depending on the warp to be made: from a few hundred to several thousand threads can be woven, depending on the fabric to be made and the starting materials. These groups, called "portate", pass through glass rings and take their place on the warping machine, which with its circular movement rolls them neatly around itself.
